Duration: 1h
The Digital & Technology Committee convened on Friday, 28 April to address the following initiatives:
The committee will host a Breakfast Talk on Digitalisation in the Banking Sector, planned for the 22nd of June. An overview of the banking industry’s digitalisation will be provided, with special emphasis on the current banking movement that promotes a cashless society. A key topic will be payment innovation potentially leading to broader perspectives on the regionalisation in Southeast Asia.
The committee plans to host two additional events: one on the topic of trade negotiations related to e-commerce and another on data protection.
The 2024 White Book is a priority as well, with the committee working on issues surrounding consumer choice, open access, prioritising the adoption of data protection and privacy laws, and regulatory issues in cloud computing.
This was the final meeting of Mr. Matthew Tippets presided over before the conclusion of his term as chairman. We would like to express our profound gratitude for his dedication. Under his direction, the committee signed an MoU with the CADT, participated in SME digitalisation campaign in response to COVID-19, and organised successful events like the Workshop on E-Commerce in Cambodia. Mr. Tippets will continue to be an active member of the committee, and we will have the opportunity to continue working with him.
For the next committee meeting, which is scheduled for June, a new chairman will be chosen; in the interim, Mr. Nicolas Hollanders and Mr. Kenneth Tang will serve as co-chairs.
