EuroCham held a courtesy meeting with the Ministry of Health (MoH), 𝐇.𝐄. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐊𝐨𝐲 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐲, Secretary of State, and his staff last Wednesday morning to discuss a range of issues, including the current state of the healthcare sector in Cambodia, the challenges and opportunities for the sector, and ways in which EuroCham and the MoH can work together to improve the healthcare sector in Cambodia.

✔️ EuroCham Secretary General  Dr. Antoine Fontaine took the opportunity to discuss shared commitments and values between the chamber and the ministry to improve the healthcare sector in Cambodia.

✔️ Senior Advocacy Officer Mr Joachim Dautais  presented the 2024 White Book Edition and Live Advocacy Compass (https://bit.ly/46BTcxU), the portal for tracking all advocacy committee activities and recommendations. He also provided His Excellency with the results of the 2023 EuroCham Business Confidence Survey.

✔️  Speaking on behalf of the Healthcare Committee, Co-Chairman (representing the E-Health Sector) Dr. Vireak Khloth Chea discussed the urgent need to improve the Cambodia Pharmaceutical Online Registration System (CamPORS) for product registration, how to foster fair business competition, and how to protect consumers from the adverse effects of unregistered pharmaceutical products. The committee is open to collaborating with the Ministry on Skill Development, E-Health development, and latest development pharmaceutical laws.

✔️ Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Committee Chairman Daren Ong highlighted the significance of his committee’s role in enhancing consumer protection, combatting illicit trade, and minimum purchasing ages for alcohol and tobacco.

✔️ FMCG Committee Vice-Chairman Mr Tivea Koam, discussed the scope of competency between MoH and other relevant ministries, preventing unfair online competition, and enhancing advertising licenses.

H.E. Prof. Koy Vanny showed a great desire to collaborate on several of the topics raised by EuroCham. He has considered all issues and is receptive to honest feedback. “We appreciate the support of the private sector in our efforts to improve the health of all Cambodians,” he said.
