The Eurocham Tourism & Hospitality Committee held its second committee meeting on Wednesday, 10 April 2024, to discuss the latest updates in the tourism industry.
– In February of this year, a courtesy meeting was held with H.E. Sok Soken, Minister of Tourism, during which the Minister encouraged EuroCham and the Committee to actively participate in the newly formed Cambodia Tourism Board. The meeting highlighted the need for collaboration between the government and private sector to create a competitive, sustainable, and inclusive tourism destination in Cambodia.
– The committee discussed flight movements and passenger numbers, highlighting a decrease in Phnom Penh Airport’s passenger count compared to 2019. However, there was a slight increase in international passengers. Siem Reap Airport also experienced a slight decrease in both international and domestic flight movements, as well as a slight dip in passenger numbers.
The committee is eager to work with the government and other stakeholders to ensure the success and growth of the tourism sector and they are confident that they can contribute to the creation of a vibrant and sustainable tourism landscape in Cambodia.
