On Wednesday 23rd, EuroCham’s Healthcare Committee hosted the Healthcare Forum, bringing together healthcare professionals, industry representatives, and medical experts at the Novotel Hotel BKK1 to discuss some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing the nation’s health sector.
The event kicked off with opening remarks from Mr. Narath CHHEAV • CoGen Consulting Group, EuroCham’s Board of Directors, and Ms. Samnangvathana Sor, Co-Chairwoman of EuroCham’s Healthcare Committee and Senior Consultant at DFDL Cambodia.
Professor Ang Kim, Vice Director of the National Paediatric Hospital, addressed the pressing issue of iron deficiency in Cambodian children. His insights on the impact of iron deficiency on children’s development and immunity emphasised the urgency of effective interventions.
Mr. Pascal CATRY • Ucare Pharmacy, CEO of Ucare Pharmacy explored the strengths and weaknesses of Cambodia’s pharmacy sector, from its robust network to the challenges of product control and the risks associated with overprescription.
Dr. Dr.Azmat Khan, Optometrist and store manager at Horizon Optics, shed light on myopia and other ocular health concerns impacting Cambodians, particularly children. He emphasised the importance of regular eye exams for early detection and long-term eye health.
Dr. med. Elias J. Engelking (MBA), Specialist surgeon and Emergency physician, delivered a thought-provoking talk titled “Is There a Wind of Change in Healthcare?” covering digital transformation, new legislation, and market trends. He highlighted the need for collaboration in supporting government healthcare initiatives.
The event wrapped up with a discussion on the future of Cambodian healthcare, moderated by Mrs. Solina Yean, Co-Chairwoman of the Healthcare Committee and Of-Counsel at Anant Law Firm, and joined by Mr. Catry, Dr. Khan, and Dr. Engelking.
