On March 10, 2025, EuroCham welcomed a delegation to discuss the creation of a vocational school for tourism, a long-awaited initiative now taking shape.
The delegation was led by Ms. Ok Malika from the French Development Agency (AFD), which is funding the initiative, along with Mr. Nguon Setha, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, and Mr. Nick Hayland and Mr. Wayne Crosbie from the William Angliss Institute, who are responsible for developing the curriculum for the school. The project aims to enhance skills training in the sector.
During the meeting, representatives from the school outlined their plans and explored potential areas for collaboration with the private sector, seeking opportunities for stakeholders to get involved.
EuroCham highlighted key challenges, including teacher recruitment and training, but overall, the outlook is promising. A Vocational Education and Training (VET) school could play a vital role in raising industry standards and empowering Cambodia’s tourism workforce.
