On Monday 10th June, the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) hosted a workshop to discuss digitalising pre-arrival customs clearance for postal, express, and e-commerce goods. The workshop was attended by high-level officials, including H.E. Dr. Kun Nhem, Director General, and H.E. Pha Eng Veng, Deputy Director-General, as well as representatives from EuroCham and its Transport & Logistics Chairman, Mr. Suy Bunthan.
The workshop aimed to promote implementation of digital procedures for pre-arrival customs clearance. Ongoing collaboration between express clearance operators and customs officials is necessary to facilitate the integration of their technology systems with GDCE’s systems. Customs officials will offer technical support to the private sector, and they are also working to raise awareness about the importance of system integration. To achieve this, the GDCE is preparing for a pilot implementation starting from July 1, 2024.
