Duration: 1 hour
On 14 September 2023, EuroCham’s Fast Moving Consumer Goods Committee (FMCG) held an Exceptional General Meeting to hold elections for the vice-chairmanship and discuss FMCG-related topics to be included in the 2024 White Book, ahead of its release during the “ASEAN-Cambodia Business Summit”, scheduled for 28 & 29 September.
Following a lunch with representatives from the Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General (CCF) 7 August, the committee members took the opportunity to bring up important issues like Khmer labeling requirements and the usage of QR codes on FMCG products. Three regulations are now under development by the CCF and the Ministry of Commerce:
– Sub-decree on Alcohol Legal Purchasing Ages
– Draft Law on Product Liability
– Prakas on the Implementation of Consumer Protection Law
The 2024 White Book FMCG Chapter will include one recommendation covering the three pillars of the committee:
– More clarification of consumer-end information
– Enforcement and prevention of illicit trading
– Minimum purchasing age for alcohol and tobacco products
The advocacy department will also release the Live Advocacy Compass during the ASEAN-Cambodia Business Summit.
We would like to congratulate Anne de Graaf de Graff, Corporate Affairs Director of Heineken, for being elected as the new Vice-Chairwoman of the FMCG Committee. She is delighted to play a more active role in the committee and said her goal is to speak for all companies, large and small, and above all, she wants to seize this chance to introduce constructive and proactive projects.
EuroCham would like to express its sincere appreciation to Ms. Hor Voucchim, the former Vice-Chairwoman for her dedication to the FMCG Committee.
