The tourism industry continues to struggle and has not yet recovered to the levels seen in 2018, considered the peak of tourism. As of 2024, Angkor ticket sales are averaging 60% below the figures from that year.

The Committee identified several factors contributing to this decline, including inadequate promotion of current offerings, a lack of diversification, and rising business costs, which in turn impact the overall pricing for tourism services.

In response to these challenges, the Committee will focus on four key areas: enhancing tourist offerings, skills development, data collection, and regional collaboration. The goal is to implement short- and medium-term measures to revitalize this crucial sector of the Cambodian economy.
