The Transport & Logistics committee held its second meeting of the year on Friday, 21 June to discuss the industry’s recent developments. Meeting highlights included:
- Recap of the 10 June GDCE workshop on standard operating procedures for postal, express, and e-commerce shipments. At the workshop, committee chairman Suy Bunthan stressed the importance of integrating the Customs Valuation Declaration System (CVDS) into ASYHUB and a return to origin process into the SOPs.
- Committee members are eager to partake in the pilot test for pre-arrival processing at Phnom Penh International Airport. This pilot starts 1 July and will help in the process of digitalising customs procedures.
- Members also shared insights on the progress of several key infrastructure projects, including the Kampot International port inaugured on 6 June and the new Phnom Penh International Airport. The airport is expected to open in Q1 next year, with a logistics centre confirmed to be built onsite as well.
- The committee is preparing to elect its new leadership and will hold an election on 13 September.
